Giving Surrey a new name
After struggling to recover from a troubled childhood and adolescence of separated parents, teen pregnancy, including addiction, poverty and mental health. Lisa found recovery in her local church community in her early 20's. Since that time she has advocated for youth wellness and understands the pressures that many children and youth are faced with. You will often find Lisa working 2-3 jobs simultaneously to live a life of legacy to her family and encourage those with challenging circumstances to change their story as she constantly strives towards greater. Lisa is often spearheading community and personal initiatives focusing on sport, health/wellness, job aid, and poverty alleviation. She focused her education in Business Administration initially working as an Executive Assistant and Bookkeeper doing tax in the nonprofit sector in her 20's then transitioned into Tax and Mutual Funds over the last 8 years in downtown Vancouver operating in a variety of roles in both public and privately traded companies. She is also a proponant for Health and Wellness. After loosing 100 lbs between 2011-2012 she became a Certified Personal Trainer in 2014 whilst still working in the financial sector. She
It was in working tirelessly over the past 17 years as a parent, that Lisa recognized the great need for forward thinking proactive leadership in local government. In 2018 she ran for the Surrey School Board. Though not elected she garnered 19,857 votes an almost unprecedented number as an independent candidate. Lisa is passionate about the City of Surrey and the church. As a business person, she understands numbers, analytics and is an excellent resource for team strategy and implementation.
